Greetings:
Thank you for stopping into my website. I hope you will
enjoy yourself while you are here. Please allow me to
tell you a little about myself. I am Mark T. Griffin owner
and photographer at PHOTOGRAPHY AT YOUR SERVICE. I have
been interested in photography since I started using my
father's 35 mm Argus camera about 35 years ago. While
in high school I became interested in photographing the
activities of my fellow classmates for the yearbook. I
soon realized that I had the eye and the timing to capture
images at the height of the action. I also realized that
I liked to take "people pictures" in order to
capture their soul and emotion. Mostly self-taught, I
continued to take classes for specialty purposes like
darkroom work and business aspects of wedding and portrait
photography.

In 1988
I took on my first "hired" wedding and haven't stopped.
Booking about 22 weddings a year and hundreds of events behind
me a unique change has been occurring for the past couple of
years. With the resurrection of Black and White imaging and
a photojournalism style of coverage an additional shooter, Mariann,
my wife, has come on line. Not only do a bride and groom get
complete posed and candid images in color they can have unique,
emotional images in black and white.
Realizing
the need to continue expanding the diversity of what I wanted
to photograph, I founded my own business, PHOTOGRAPHY AT YOUR
SERVICE, in 1995. The idea for the name came about because of
the many stories from clients. They felt they had not received
the service from the photographer at the quickie marts that
they wanted. I wanted to be the photographer to give them the
service that they desire. I feel that if a subject is involved
in creating their portrait they will feel more confident about
it. Realizing that they will have an input into producing their
portrait allows them to be more creative.
Shortly
after starting the business I became a member of the Professional
Photographers of New York and well as the Kodak Promise of Excellence
Program. Through the PPSNY I have taken yearly workshops from
master instructors, gaining vast knowledge and unique ideas.
Recently with the surge of digital photography, I have taken
several courses on working with digital systems, print retouching
and manipulation.
In April
2002, I attended the 97th annual PPSNY convention. At the convention
I attended several classes by world famous instructors like
Clay Blackmore and Denis Reggie. While participating in the
statewide print competition, I entered four images for judging,
my print entitled "Golden Eyes" a fine detailed digital
portrait of a cat received a blue ribbon as well as the highly
respected Court of Honor award.
What's next?
There is a vast amount of creative situations becoming available
to everyone at this time. With the ever changing scene in digital
capture the question is only which way should we go? Many cool
things are being developed for high school seniors and wedding
photography that involved the Internet. The sky is the limit
and your own creativity is your ticket.
Sincerely
Mark T. Griffin
